 Chlomo chan 2.0 (e690) 362

Introducing chlomo chan 2.0 (beta)

Since the old chan looked like crap (most of them do - I don't remember ever seeing a good looking one) and since it was lacking some functionality I decided it was about time it received an update in these 3 areas

1. design - we needed something with some wow factor plus you can never have enough eye candy (at least until you get eye diabetus). For all those people who hate design the old themes are still available at the bottom of the page

2. functionality - lots of JS goodness
- quick reply
- backlinks
- inline image expanding
- always noko

3. banners galore
all those banners you guys made will be put to use

That all sounds good except for one minor detail: it's a beta. Nothing is really complete.

1. The design
It might look done but that's only for the main pages and everything else such as error messages and other different pages are not done / a mess. I also need to test it and make it compatible with other browser besides FF and chrome. If you encounter any bugs or rendering issues feel free to metion them plus if the page does not look right in your browser then resort to the old themes for now.

2. Functionality
I'm still somewhat juggling with all the JS which will be included so nothing is final. I want maximum functinality but I want the site to be snappy and responsive and some of the scripts were causing timeouts. There were also some JS addons that either didn't work (such as converting post time to your local time) or felt useless (autoupdater - but with no notification / post count in page title). Also, the inline image expanding does not work in firefox for now.

JS causing problems is also the reason why the sticky with the most noteworthy threads is gone. It will be added one way or another.

3. Banners
Some of the posted ones are good but others need some more polishing (usually it's the fonts / colors / lack of padding problem). I also have some ideas for some cool banners but those will take some time. Once we get the current ones polished (should be quick) I will upload them. I'm also waiting for that minecraft anon to deliver the video since that banner would have probably been the best of them all. I'm also fairly certain some were lost in the flooding accident so please re-upload them.

That's all for now. I hope you guys enjoy the new changes, if not: who the hell asked you, you ungrateful fuck? :P

The new design is pretty cool. But there are 2 things, I would think could be done better:<br/><br/>1) The transition between the threads is not good enough - should be more apparent.<br/><br/>2) The style on the number of posts and images omitted is not clear enough. The grey kinda fades out.

Hmmm, well I really like the look of this but it seems really browser heavy. At least the scrolling in Chrome is in no way smooth for me like it is with the old theme.

 Anonymous (728e) 375

Fixed. But it will only apply for new videos (ones uploaded starting today). I could go through all the previous posts and fix it but it would take time and I don't think it's that big of an issue.

Should be fixed. If it sill appears take a print screen of it and mention what browser you have.

>>372
> 1) The transition between the threads is not good enough - should be more apparent.

mmm … what? There is no transition between threads. I'm guessing you mean the dividers / separators. I made them darker and more spaced out to make the separation even more clear.

> 2) The style on the number of posts and images omitted is not clear enough. The grey kinda fades out.

ok. I made them more visible

>>374

the theme has nothing to do with it. It's all down to the JS. You can change to the old themes and it will be no difference.

It loads pretty fast for me on FF. I think I might know why chrome has issues but it might not be an easy fix

 Anonymous (cafb) 376

<span class="quote">&gt;the theme has nothing to do with it. It's all down to the JS. No big deal for me, don't mind using the older theme just thought I would give some feedback on it cause scrolling is really sluggish for me for some reason.

 Anonymous (728e) 377

>>376

I don't believe it as there is no reason why it would make a difference It moves exactly the same to me no matter the theme and there's no reason why it would be sluggish (unless you have some ancient pc)

make a comparison:

clear the cache
reload
scroll from top to bottom WITHOUT putting the mouse over any links

change theme and repeat the process

 Anonymous (5d38) 378

Isn't ancient but I just tried on my laptop, which is kind of old and shitty compared to my desktop and it worked fine on there. So must be a problem on the end of my Chrome cause Firefox also works fine on here, clearing the cache did nothing. But eh, sorry for wasting time, could be one of the thousand extensions messing it up I guess.

> Admin can you please increase max file size to 10MB. I have high res images that I cant upload.

The file size won't be increased for security reasons and you don't ever need 10mb for an image. We're not making print material here. If your file size is that big you're doing something wrong. Rescale and upload. Batch rescale if there are many,

> Also is it possible to "whitelist IP's" with no flooding restrictions or a multiple upload option? It's a pain in the ass to upload sets at the moment

There's no such options in Tinyboard. A solution would be to make a zip, upload it and ask one of the most to post them.

Another solution would be for you to make a fake FB account and join our group so we can discuss that in private and you'll get a more suitable solution.

>>385

How about you experiment with finding an imageboard that you think looks good? Post the link here and then we can continue the discussion.

>making things worse in the name of security
>tfw 4096chan will always be superior

Also, GIF's can easily be more then 10mb.

 Anonymous (728e) 388

>>387

We're not uploading movies either. 5mb is more than enough for a gif

this started as a spinoff from the chloe threads on 4chan. There the file limit is 2mb. Having 5 is more than generous. Stop bitching.

 Anonymous (007c) 389

File: 1335504677070.jpg (122.14 KB, 688x530)

4MB is too small, I think 6MB would be more appropriate, especially for GIF's. <br/><br/>Also just so you know the max limit on image dimensions is about 4000 x 4000 px without getting problems.

 Anonymous (728e) 390

>>389

resize

problem solved

we are not uploading movie clips - you have video embedding for that - 5mb is more than enough for a gif

we are not uploading print material - 5000x5000 px and 5mb (or even 4) is more than enough for an image

>implying you should HAVE to resize Chloe

 Anonymous (728e) 392

>>391

>implying you should HAVE to resize Chloe

by this logic we can make 20mb gifs and complain why they aren't supported

You don't HAVE to resize just like you don't HAVE to upload it

The current solution covers well over 99.5% of the use cases and that's enough.

I have 5000+ pics in my chloe folder. I doubt more than 4-5 aren't supported here (and in that case I can easily make them fit)

 Anonymous (f9d2) 393

>>392
By this logic I could compile every image in my folders into a single image and complain that I can't upload it. The problem with this is that it would actually be excessive.

A 6, 7, 8mb gif\image is not excessive.

 Anonymous (728e) 394

>>393

> A 6, 7, 8mb gif\image is not excessive.

Based on what?

Who's to say then that 9-10 mb is not excessive? If we increase it to that who's to say another one won't come and say 11-12 would be better?

Case and point:

That guy above said 6mb would suffice. Now you come a few posts later asking for 8mb and showing me a print screen with a 7mb file.

I have ~250 pics in my gif folder and they all perfectly fit except one which is 14mb (the kryptonite scene from kick-ass)

If the current solution works for 99.5% of the cases I shouldn't have to worry about the 0.5% especially as no solution is perfect.

 Anonymous (f9d2) 395

>>394
>I have ~250 pics in my gif folder and they all perfectly fit except one

That's because the popular places to post don't allow larger files.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I just never liked file size limits.

>Who's to say then that 9-10 mb is not excessive? If we increase it to that who's to say another one won't come and say 11-12 would be better?

Take your largest image, double it. Anything past that is excessive.

 Anonymous (fdea) 396

>>395
so I should take my largest file, double it and name that the image limit? That limit applies to everyone and what's excessive to me or you might not be for the next guy. My largest image is 14. Does that mean the max file size should be set to 30mb?

I don't like image limits either but they're usually there for a reason (such as security or technical limitations).

This place, just like most products or service, should satisfy the vast majority of users.

If enough people will ask for this I might consider increasing the limit to 10000x10000 px and
10 Mb

 Anonymous (f9d2) 397

>>396
>Does that mean the max file size should be set to 30mb?
In all honesty, this doesn't seem unreasonable to me in the slightest. With what, maybe 10 people who post daily and maybe 20-30 others that might come through once and a while there is no reason to have just a 4mb limit. It's not like its going to be used on every post.

>That limit applies to everyone and what's excessive to me or you might not be for the next guy.

But, my limit doesn't stop them from posting.

 Cubia (fd71) 520

Hey so two days ago i was at work sitting at my desk staring into space bored out of my mind and said hey Chlomo would help pass the time and put a smile on my face!…

I was sad to find that i could not get on the site and google could not find it! i immediately though it was hacked or worse so i went on my /b/ app lurked for maybe a hour until finally a Chloe thread! and a chloebro said the site was down because of maintenance.

Sooo to my point a suggestion i would really love (actually 2)

1- A Chlomo Twitter run by the head of Chlomo or a trusted moderator to keep Chloebros updated on anything if the site is down or just Chloe related stuff.

2- A Chloemo chan app cause that be awesome.

 Anonymous (acd7) 521

>>520

1. We already have a place where the chlobros are updated: facebook. If you want to join us make a fake FB account and link it here. The twitter idea is a long shot as not many chlobros seem to use it. I could try it but I'm not sure how well it would work. Not to mention the site shouldn't be down anymore (I doubt we'll be switching servers again)

2. Nigga u iz crazy. Why have an app? We have a site. Having an app that would do the exact thing (more or less) that the site does is redundant and pointless. We could try making a theme for mobiles but that's a different thing

I'm not a fan. First of all visually there is no way to integrate them there with the scroll buttons without looking like shit. Second of all it would be too intrusive. I don't want to 'hit users over the head' with them

Sorry bro. You're going to have to use an image for this too because I'm not getting it

I think he's requesting a dark "traditional" style probably something like the "tomorrow" style on 4chan.

I had a feeling that's probably what he meant but few people use the old themes so I'm not sure how many would benefit from it. I could add it at a later point but I don't consider it a priority atm

Fan art thread Vanishing Post Minner Burris (48d8) 1623

I tried fixing a post I made on Fan art thread.

I may have accidentally hit REPORT. It was an innocent post so I can't see being taken off. BUT - I wanted to ask here first.

It was a short poem comparing her to 3 actresses she is reminiscent of. No rude allusions.

If I accidentally zapped it let me know and I will repost it. Thanks.

The fan art thread is for drawings
